The raised-bed garden at the WCCC office was planted on a sunny day in early April this year by a handful of volunteers from our local Kohl’s department store. Kohl’s employees donated their time and expertise in celebration of Earth Day as part of the Kohl’s Associates In Action program. The volunteers planted a few starts, some seeds, and some flowers, including strawberries, onions, carrots, and marigolds. As the garden grows, these crops will be used as part of the healthy lifestyles curriculum to educate corps members on the benefits of fresh fruits and vegetables and (hopefully!) provide an additional source of nutrition throughout the summer. Seed and start donations are always welcome and appreciated!
